Hey, I know it's been a while. But I'm looking for feedback. So, I had the second class of my "concepts of the male and the female in the West" course today. Some of it is interesting, but I know most of what she's saying, and people are mad idiots.

Here are some quotes, observations and cynical jabs that I recorded during class, not having a laptop or being able to update Twitter from my phone yet.


- According to my teacher, the French write things a little different from how we do, so the quotes might sound funny once they're translated.

- To make the projector go, you have to press a button.

- Asshole in the front row needs to shut up. No, it's not true that "if you're born female, you'll become a woman no matter what."

- To the idiot in the back row: Yes, if I saw "some drag queen walking down the street" I might say "Oh, that's a beautiful woman." If she was.
But most drag queens don't identify as women, so I probably wouldn't. I might if I saw a beautiful male-to-female transsexual.

- Apparently we're still five. "Hee, hee, hee... Penis."

- Karen Horney's opinions on gender and psychology only matter because she's female.

- Women = baby-carriers.

- Gender studies is twice the fun, because it deals with twice as many gender issues as plain old feminism!

- Women are better than men because we can have more orgasms. We win!

- Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston are both epitomes of feminine perfection.


Have I mentioned how much this course pisses me off?

Since apparently "everybody's doing it," I should list my OTPs to be cool. Be warned, some of these aren't ACTUALLY pairings that I think are canon. I'm just being silly.

Hey guys, Will and I are trying to start an LJ community for writing clever fanfiction based around silly ideas that must be written. You know you're an English geek when you're up in the middle of the night, and you're sick and miserable, and you start to cry. Then you hear it start to rain, and your first thought is "pathetic fallacy." Then your second thought is that you can't take how upset you are seriously any more, because it's just too cliche.

EDIT: But maybe not so much of an English geek that I proofread my entries. "You you you're an English geek" indeed.

So, we had our small family Hannukah party on Tuesday night. We trekked all the way up to my Nana's house in Richmond Hill (oh god the weather was so bad and nobody knows how to drive anymore), where my aunt, uncle and cousin were staying, having just arrived from Ottawa.

So, I've found a new game. I've been unable to resist playing it for at least 3 hours a day since I got it on Wednesday. Seriously. It's kind of bad. But anyway, it's called Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis and it's amazing. It's basically like Harry Potter meets Final Fantasy 10, but it's got a lot of really interesting new game mechanics, and it's totally designed so the player has fun instead of wanting to tear their hair out with frustration. Also: There's no leveling up, so you basically never have to grind. So yeah. It just came out in English here this year, but you should all go out and buy it. Like, now. Seriously, do it.

So yeah, the other day I had a really weird dream. I don't remember much of it, only that I was doing some strange quest-y, treasure hunt-y thing. And I was wandering along Broadview near my old house, when I found some kind of secret pathway. I followed it, and I was suddenly in this big, fancy apartment (and it's odd, because I don't think I've ever been there before, and places in my dreams are normally based on real places).

So the interesting part: I realized that this was the apartment of John Simm (the Master from Doctor Who, for those of you who don't know) and Alexandra Moen (Lucy Saxon, the Master's wife when he's pretending to be people), who were, in my strange dreamworld, married for real.

So they weren't home, so I started going through all their stuff (because I'm a creeper like that), and I found some really cool pictures of them, and some journals that they had done with a whole bunch of character work for Doctor Who, which made me spurfle with glee. Also, at some point in all this, I started trying on a whole bunch of Alexandra Moen's clothes for some reason, though I don't remember doing. I just remember that I was wearing them later in the dream.

Only then I heard them coming home, so I hid on their balcony. I waited until I saw them leave, only John Simm came back in without me noticing, and caught me going through all their stuff and wearing his wife's clothes, and got really angry at me.

So yeah. I'm not sure what this all says about me. I haven't even WATCHED anything with him in it for SO LONG.

It's official, Saoirse and I have decided. Every story should have a Curling AU (Alternate Universe). This was born of the fact that we're convinced that Men With Brooms is a Slings and Arrows Curling AU. Please, make suggestions.

Oh man, guys, it's an update. Crazy, I know. It would probably be a lot better if I had stuff to say, though. I'm just kind of sitting up at my computer before I go to my 8:30 Stagecraft class. I'm exceedingly tired. Also, I think I have a sinus infection. The right side of my face hurts, and my eye and nose on that side have been running incessantly since 2 yesterday afternoon. I hope to get an appointment at the clinic on campus (if I can find it) to get some medicine that will actually HELP, so I'll be well enough for Nuit Blanche. Here's hoping.

In other news, I'm neglecting my homework, because Spore is more fun than that shit. I'm also still kind of trying to work on a graphic novel with Rachel, though I'm too unmotivated to write until I see more arts, and she doesn't have a lot of time to do arts for me, since she has to do them for school and to get paid and all that jazz.

I hope to be trying to post more here at some point soon, I have a few ideas brewing for rants/responses/things that'll hopefully be entertaining for all you people. So yeah. Hopefully those will start showing up at some point in the next week.

Oh, and finally, I'll try to post pictures of my room soon, so you can all see just how tiny this closet I live in is.

Well, what do you know? It's me again. Who would've thought it was possible? Personally, I blame [Bad username: cws_eat_chs"] for this development. A lot's been going on, but it's certainly far too much to explain here. Also, the explaining will wait until I see whether any of my old LJ-only friends are still around and/or still talk to me. Because the rest of you know it already.
